The Mandarin Penthouse Suite at Mandarin Oriental, Paris

Why it is on the list

The suite sits at the top of a hotel on the rue Saint-Honoré, a short walk from the Place Vendôme and the Tuileries, that has held the Palace distinction since 2014.¹²³ It runs to 252 sqm around one bedroom: a long living room opening onto a terrace over the Opéra Garnier, a dining room with a bar, a full kitchen, a study and a gym of its own.⁴ The bathroom has a steam room and an oversized bath, and its windows face the Eiffel Tower.⁴ Dinner can be served in the suite's dining room or out on the terrace.⁴

It is the wrong choice for two people who want to spend the evening outdoors under cover: the Oriental Penthouse Suite in the same hotel is smaller at 162 sqm, but it is laid out over two floors and has a 75 sqm terrace with a pergola, a removable roof and a view over the Opéra, the Madeleine and Montmartre.⁴

Write to the reservations office at mopar-reservations@mohg.com or call +33 1 70 98 73 33 and ask for the Mandarin Penthouse Suite by name.⁴¹ A family or a small group should ask for the Two Bedroom Mandarin Penthouse, which joins the suite to a Panoramic Suite on a split level with a dining table for eight, or for the Mandarin Penthouse Floor, which adds a second Panoramic Suite for three bedrooms.⁴⁵ The hotel's page gives the two-bedroom version as both 375 sqm and 348 sqm; ask which figure applies when booking.⁵

Discretion

The suite has its own gym, so there is no need to use the hotel's shared fitness centre and pool.⁴² Meals can be served in the suite's dining room or on its terrace.⁴ Taking the Mandarin Penthouse Floor puts the suite and both Panoramic Suites in one party's hands.⁴
