What it is

A quiet, exact guide to one city at a time for people who can have anything, and for the people who book for them: which room, which table, which door, and how to get them.

Every recommendation answers the same questions in the same order: what it is, why it is on the list and when it is the wrong choice, how to get it, and what to know about discretion.

How recommendations are chosen

Quality is the only test: the best of its kind in the city, whatever it costs. A recommendation that is only good does not stay. The list is short on purpose.

Nobody can pay for a place, and nobody outside the guide can add or change a recommendation: there are no accounts, no reviews and no public editing. A correction sent to desk@guideforthefew.com is checked the same day.

How it stays true

Each recommendation is checked again on a fixed interval: contacts and services every 30 days, rooms and tables every 60, visits and days out every 90. A recommendation that has not been checked in time leaves the list until it is, and a venue that closes leaves it the day that is found.

The rules

• Only the best of its kind. Quality is the only test. Price never puts a recommendation on the list and never keeps one off.
• Nothing is paid for. No paid placement, no affiliate links, no advertising, no sponsored recommendations.
• Nothing unchecked. Every recommendation is checked from its sources, and they are there for anyone who looks.
• Only what we know. What we could not source is left out. A short list of complete recommendations beats a long list of thin ones.
• No stars. No reviews and no rankings, just a short list and the reason for each recommendation.

Pictures

Pictures show the place itself and come from the venue's own site or wherever the best picture is. The source of each is kept.
