Why it is worth going
Elisabeth Linton, the Royal Danish Opera's director, directs the revival of her production, first seen in 2016, in collaboration with GöteborgsOperan.1 The autumn performances, 16 October to 7 November, bring Georgian-Ukrainian soprano Teona Todua and Bosnian-Swiss tenor Omer Kobiljak as Mimì and Rodolfo, with Clara Cecilie Thomsen as Musetta and Jens Søndergaard as Marcello.1 From January the lovers are Sofie Elkjær Jensen and Long Long, who sang Rodolfo for his debut at the Metropolitan Opera in 2026.1 Dominik Beykirch conducts; sets are by Astrid Lynge Ottosen, costumes by Magdalena Stenbeck and lighting by Ulrik Gad.1 It is sung in Italian with Danish and English surtitles.1 The Opera House stands on Holmen, across the harbour from Amalienborg.2
