Why it is worth going

The Glyptotek calls it the largest special exhibition on antiquity in its history, spread over more than 1,000 square metres.¹ It rests on the museum's own years of research into the colours, clothing, jewellery, perfumes and fashions of the ancient world, and no museum in Denmark or abroad has given the subject a show of this kind before.¹ Roman marble and bronze sculptures of men and women in dress are read for what their clothes said about rank, age, origin and politics, next to painted reconstructions such as one of the statue of Emperor Tiberius.¹ Curator Cecilie Brøns opens it on Thursday 1 October at 17:00, with admission free from 16:00 and fragrances made by Karmameju from ancient perfume recipes.² The exhibition is reached by stairs and is not accessible to wheelchair users.¹ On Thursdays the museum stays open until 21:00.³
