The Shamballa Master Suite at Villa Copenhagen

Why it is on the list

Villa Copenhagen is the former head office of the Central Post and Telegraph, a building from 1912.¹ The Shamballa Master Suite is the largest of its six suites, up to 129 m² against 52 to 78 m² for the rest, and sleeps up to four.² It was designed for the building by Mads and Mikkel Kornerup, founders of Shamballa Jewels, with their designer Olga Krukovskaya: a lounge and dining area, a soaking tub, and up to two bedrooms and two bathrooms.³ Guests have the hotel's 25-metre outdoor rooftop pool, heated to 28 to 30 °C all year, and the sauna beside it; both are for those staying only.⁴

It is the wrong choice for a full-service spa: the hotel has none, and massages are arranged through the concierge.⁵ For a terrace over Tivoli, take the Executive Suite at Nimb;⁶ for a balcony over Kongens Nytorv, the Royal Suite at d'Angleterre.⁷

How to get it

The suite can be booked from its own page; the size and number of bedrooms vary, so write to reservations to have both bedrooms and both bathrooms.³ Reservations is on reservation@villacph.com and +45 78 73 00 00; the concierge takes requests at concierge@villacph.com.⁸³ Turndown and a transfer are included with the suite.³ The concierge also arranges airport pick-ups and private cars around the city.⁹ Children may use the pool from 7 am to 7 pm; the pool closes on Mondays and Fridays from 12:00 to 12:30.⁴

Discretion

Central Station is across the street; guests who arrive by car park opposite the main entrance at Tietgensgade 37 and hand the key to the front of house team for valet parking, at DKK 750 a night.⁵ A transfer comes with the suite, so arrival need not be through the station.³ The pool and sauna are closed to the public.⁴ Press enquiries go to a separate address, brand@villacph.com.⁸
