The chef's table at Moonrise

Why it is on the list

Moonrise has held a Michelin star since 2023.¹² The whole restaurant is one table: 15 seats around a palm-wood counter, with the kitchen in front and the city beyond the glass.³ Each of the twelve courses is cooked, plated and finished in front of the diners, and the menu works from the region's farms, mills and markets first.³ Solemann Haddad, the self-taught chef who founded it, received the 2022 MICHELIN Young Chef Award.⁴

It is the wrong table for anyone who needs dairy-free, gluten-free, vegan, egg-free or soy-free cooking, or who has a severe allergy: the set menu cannot be changed for those.⁵ For three stars, book Trèsind Studio or FZN by Björn Frantzén, both on the Palm.¹

How to get it

Book through SevenRooms; a seat is confirmed only when the deposit of AED 500 per person is paid and the confirmation email arrives.⁵⁶ The deposit counts against the tasting menu of AED 995 per person, and the balance is paid after dinner.⁵ There are two dinners a night, at 6pm and 9:30pm.⁵⁷ For anything urgent, message +971 50 697 2946 or write to bookings@moon-rise.xyz.⁷

Everyone at the counter starts together; arrive more than 30 minutes late and the menu picks up where the table is, so the first courses are lost.⁵ Ask about allergies before booking.⁵

Discretion

No dinner takes more than 15 guests, and the room sits on the roof of Eden House in Al Satwa.⁵⁴ Park in the public RTA car park connected to the tower; the restaurant sends a map on the day of the booking.⁵
