Why it is worth going

This is a new production, Evgeny Titov's first for The Royal Opera.1 Jakub Hrůša conducts a cast that includes Stanislas de Barbeyrac, Ekaterina Gubanova, Christian Gerhaher and Brindley Sherratt.1 Etienne Pluss designs the set, Esther Bialas the costumes and D. M. Wood the lighting.1 The evening runs about five and a half hours with two intervals, sung in German with English surtitles.1 The run is short: 1 to 17 October 2026.1
