Why it is worth going

This is the season opener and a new production, staged and designed by Thaddeus Strassberger in a Spanish Gothic setting and shared with Houston Grand Opera and Detroit Opera.¹ Domingo Hindoyan, Music Director since July 1, 2026 and Chief Conductor of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, conducts his first performance in the post.¹ Antonio Najarro, once director of the Spanish National Ballet, choreographs.¹ The opening night on October 17 is followed by the black-tie Opera Ball on the Music Center's Jerry Moss Plaza, with dinner and dancing alongside the cast, marking the company's 40th birthday.² Sung in French with English subtitles; about three and a quarter hours with one intermission.¹
