Why it is worth going
One evening, one pianist, no orchestra. Lang Lang, who played at the 2008 and 2026 Olympics, returns to Walt Disney Concert Hall alone at the keyboard.1 The first half pairs Mozart's Rondo in D major, K. 485 with two Beethoven sonatas: the "Pathétique", Op. 13, and Op. 110 in A-flat major, his penultimate.1 After the interval come six pieces from Albéniz's Suite española No. 1, "Quejas, o la maja y el ruiseñor" from Granados' Goyescas, and to close, Liszt's Tarantella and Consolation No. 2.1 The evening runs about two to two and a half hours, with a 20-minute interval.1
