Why it is worth going

This is La Scala's own Giselle: the Coralli-Perrot choreography as revived by Yvette Chauviré, whose version opened at La Scala in 1950 with Chauviré herself in the title role.1 It plays in Aleksandr Benois's sets and costumes, reworked by Angelo Sala and Cinzia Rosselli, and the company has taken the production on tour abroad for decades.1 Mikhail Agrest conducts the Teatro alla Scala Orchestra; the evening runs about two hours and five minutes with one interval.1 Most of the ten performances are marked sold out on the theatre's own listing.1
