Why it is worth going

Rudolf Buchbinder plays four Beethoven sonatas on La Scala's stage: No. 17 in D minor, "The Tempest"; No. 8 in C minor, the Pathétique; No. 6 in F major; and No. 23 in F minor, the Appassionata.1 It is one evening in the theatre's Great Pianists at La Scala series.1 Buchbinder has recorded all of Beethoven's piano sonatas and variations, and his album Beethoven: The Sonata Legacy won him the Echo Klassik as instrumentalist of the year in 2012.2 He is an honorary member of the Vienna Philharmonic and has directed the Grafenegg Festival since 2007.2
