The Executive coach on the Frecciarossa

Why it is on the list

The Executive level on the Frecciarossa seats ten, in leather armchairs 74 cm wide set in two rows a metre and a half apart; each turns through 180° to face the way the train is going, with powered recline and leg rest.¹ The menus are by Carlo Cracco, served at the seat on porcelain with steel cutlery and glass, with DOC and DOCG wines and an open bar.² From Milan the Frecciarossa runs at up to 300 km/h to Bologna, Florence, Rome and Naples, and east to Verona, Padua and Venice.³

Not every Frecciarossa carries all service levels: the trains offer three or four.³ On the Rome–Fiumicino run there is no Executive catering.²

How to get it

Book an Executive ticket on the Trenitalia site or through the call centre on +39 06 5210550, daily from 7am to 11.59pm, option 1 for English.¹⁴ At Milano Centrale, go through the Fast Track gate at Gate E, by the FrecciaClub, within 40 minutes of departure; one companion and minor children may pass with you if they hold the same ticket level.⁵ The ticket also opens the FrecciaLounge at Milano Centrale, by the high-speed platforms.⁶

Discretion

The coach holds ten people at most.¹ Fast Track at Gate E is a priority way to the platform, and the lounge by the high-speed platforms is open only to card holders and certain tickets.⁵⁶
