Berliner Philharmoniker at Carnegie Hall
8 to 11 October 2026
Four concerts in four days by the Berliner Philharmoniker under Kirill Petrenko, three programmes, with Jonas Kaufmann on the first night and Víkingur Ólafsson in Brahms.
Carnegie Hall, 881 Seventh Avenue (at 57th Street), New York

Why it is worth going
The orchestra comes with its chief conductor, Kirill Petrenko, who leads all four nights; its last Carnegie Hall visit with him was in 2022.1 The first night, Thursday 8 October, pairs Respighi's Fountains of Rome and Pines of Rome with Italian opera arias sung by the tenor Jonas Kaufmann, among them "Amor ti vieta" from Fedora and "Vesti la giubba" from Pagliacci.2 On Friday and on Sunday afternoon Víkingur Ólafsson, replacing Daniil Trifonov, plays Brahms's First Piano Concerto, followed by Strauss's Also sprach Zarathustra.34 Saturday is the orchestra alone: Elgar's Enigma Variations and Tchaikovsky's Fourth Symphony.5
