Why it is worth going

The 64th edition runs from September 25 to October 12 at Lincoln Center.¹ James Gray's Paper Tiger opens it, Tony Gilroy's Behemoth! is the centerpiece and Ava DuVernay's documentary 14th closes it.² World premieres include Jonathan Glazer's Joy of Joys, Luca Guadagnino's Artificial, Takashi Yamazaki's Godzilla Minus Zero and Paul Thomas Anderson's Cameron Winter at Carnegie Hall, shown in 35mm.² The Main Slate, chosen by a committee led by artistic director Dennis Lim, has new films by Pedro Almodóvar, Ryusuke Hamaguchi, Hong Sang-soo, Paweł Pawlikowski, Andrey Zvyagintsev, Radu Jude and Ira Sachs.² Alice Tully Hall, 1,086 seats on Broadway at 65th Street, has hosted the festival since it opened in 1969.³
