Why it is worth going
The Whitney gathers roughly 130 works across painting, drawing, collage, prints, sculpture and film, from the early 1940s through the 1990s.1 On the walls: Look Mickey and Girl with Ball (both 1961), Masterpiece (1962), Drowning Girl (1963), Happy Tears (1964), Little Big Painting (1965), Rouen Cathedral, Set III (1968-69) and Artist's Studio "The Dance" (1974).1 Three murals are recreated, among them a Greene Street Mural (1983) nearly 96 feet long.1 For the first time, every work from his first Pop show at Leo Castelli Gallery in 1962 hangs together again, beside work by Louise Lawler, Richard Pettibone and Sturtevant.1 Meg Onli curates with the artist Alex Da Corte.1 The museum stays open until 10 pm on Fridays.2
