Why it is worth going

The exhibition sets Cezanne beside the painters he shaped: Gauguin, Matisse, Picasso, Mondrian, Joan Mitchell, Bridget Riley and Peter Doig, nearly 180 works in all.1 It follows his reputation from Père Tanguy's shop in the late 1880s through Ambroise Vollard's first monographic shows and the Salon d'Automne of 1907 to the present.1 It is co-produced by the Grand Palais, the Centre Pompidou and the Musée d'Orsay and Musée de l'Orangerie, and curated by the directors of the Orangerie and the Musée national d'art moderne with curators from both museums.1 Friday evenings run until 10pm.1
