Why it is worth going

The Paris Opera gives Wagner's four Ring operas as two complete cycles in November, in Calixto Bieito's production under Pablo Heras-Casado.¹ Götterdämmerung, the last of the four, is the new production of this season.² Tamara Wilson sings Brünnhilde in Die Walküre and Götterdämmerung, Andreas Schager is Siegfried in Götterdämmerung, and Christopher Maltman is Wotan in Das Rheingold and Die Walküre.³²⁴ Elza van den Heever and Stanislas de Barbeyrac are Sieglinde and Siegmund, Günther Groissböck is Hunding, Eve-Maud Hubeaux is Fricka and Waltraute, Mika Kares is Fafner and Hagen, Brian Mulligan is Alberich, Simon O'Neill is Loge and Marie-Nicole Lemieux is Erda.³⁴² Das Rheingold runs 2 hours 30 without an interval; Götterdämmerung runs 5 hours 50 with two.⁴² Around the cycles, the Opera and the Bibliothèque nationale de France show an exhibition on the Ring at the Palais Garnier's Library-Museum from October 2026 to February 2027, and the set designer Richard Peduzzi talks on staging the Ring at the Studio Bastille on Sunday 8 November at 2:30 p.m.¹
