Why it is on the list

Paideia is a fully private hospital with intensive care, day surgery, inpatient surgery, imaging and nuclear medicine, robot-assisted surgery and home healthcare in one building, and it runs day and night.1 A physician is always on call, and the laboratory, radiology and operating theatre teams are available at any hour.2 Specialist consultations, tests, imaging, surgery and admissions are offered every day of the week, arranged by a call in advance.3 A patient who stays can take a single room with a sofa bed for a companion, or a suite with a private lounge; every room has its own bathroom, a safe and internet.2

For a fever, a sprain or a prescription, it is more than is needed: a doctor who comes to the hotel is the simpler call.

How to get it

For care at any hour, call 06 33 09 41 before setting out; the non-stop service works on a call in advance.3 For a stay, the admissions desk takes requests on 06 33 09 45 085 or 06 33 09 45 019, and quotes on 06 33 09 45 015; ask for a suite with a private lounge.2 Bring an identity document, a tax code if there is one, and the insurer's details with the claim number the insurer issues before admission.2 Many Italian and foreign insurers, among them Allianz, AXA, Bupa, Cigna, GeoBlue, Henner, International SOS and United Healthcare Global, are billed directly or with only the excess to pay; with any other insurer the patient pays and is reimbursed.4 The admissions desk is on the ground floor and opens Monday to Friday 7 am to 8 pm, Saturday 7 am to 2 pm and Sunday 9 am to 1 pm; rooms are vacated by 9 am on the day of discharge.2 Outpatient consultations and tests are booked on 06 83 600 600.5

Discretion

Every patient has a room of their own, and visits are asked to be kept short during quiet hours.2 Meals come to the room through the floor staff, and a hairdresser, barber, manicure and laundry come to the patient.2 A certified copy of the medical records is handed only to the patient or to someone with the patient's signed authorisation.2
