The second day of Wagner's Ring, staged in a new production by the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia and conducted by its music director Daniel Harding, opening the 2026/27 season.

Why it is worth going

Santa Cecilia is staging the whole Ring in its concert hall through 2028, and Siegfried opens the 2026/27 season.1 Daniel Harding conducts the orchestra; Vincent Huguet directs, setting each day of the cycle in one of the three empires Rome has been capital of, with a set by Pierre Yovanovitch and costumes by Edoardo Russo made with Tirelli Trappetti.1 Clay Hilley sings Siegfried and Michael Volle returns as the Wanderer after his Wotan in last season's Die Walküre, with Elisabet Strid as Brünnhilde, Wolfgang Koch as Alberich, Wolfgang Ablinger-Sperrhacke as Mime and Falk Struckmann as Fafner.1 The Sala Santa Cecilia seats 2,800 around a central stage under 26 shells of American cherry, in Renzo Piano's Auditorium.2
