The mega-yacht berth at Porto Turistico di Roma

Why it is on the list

This is the marina of Rome itself, inside the city limits at Ostia, ten minutes by car from Fiumicino and linked to the centre by the Roma-Lido line.¹² Of its 833 berths, the largest take yachts up to 55 metres, and berths over 35 metres have 63A or 125A shore power.¹³ The Capitaneria di Porto, Guardia di Finanza, Carabinieri and Polizia all keep offices inside the port, and a yard with a 400-tonne travel lift is on site.¹

It is the wrong berth for a yacht over 55 metres, the largest the port takes.¹

How to get it

Request the berth through the port's online form, or write to direzione.porto@portodiroma.com or call the office on +39 06 5618 8236; state the length and the shore power needed, 63A or 125A.⁴³ On approach, call the control tower on VHF channel 74, open 07.00 to 23.00; it clears the entry and dock staff take the lines.³ At first arrival the captain registers at the Direction offices on the west side of the port and collects the magnetic card for the pontoons; after office hours the dock staff hand it over.³ The offices open daily 09.00 to 13.00 and 15.00 to 19.00, 09.00 to 17.00 in winter.³ On berths over 18 metres electricity is billed on metered use.³

Discretion

The pontoons are gated and open only with the magnetic card issued on arrival; the port has its own concierge and security service, and a parking space is assigned with the berth.³ The promenade along the quays is public, with some 80 shops and restaurants, so the boat is in view from the waterfront.¹
