Why it is worth going

Two days after his Tchaikovsky concerto with the Singapore Symphony, Augustin Hadelich plays a solo recital with no accompanist.¹ The first half runs from Telemann's Fantasia No. 8 through two works by Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson, Ysaÿe's Sonata No. 5, Mark O'Connor's Menuhin Caprice and Paganini's Caprices Nos. 19 and 16; after the interval he plays Bach's Partita No. 2 in D minor, BWV 1004.¹ The hall is the 1905 Victoria Memorial Hall, a national monument, reduced to 673 seats in the renovation that reopened it in 2014.²
