Why it is worth going

Hayato Sumino reached the semifinal of the XVIII International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw in 2021, and took third prize at the Lyon International Piano Competition in 2019.¹ He has played with the NHK Symphony Orchestra, the BBC Philharmonic, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the New Japan Philharmonic under Joe Hisaishi, and is a Steinway Artist.² Chopin Orbit, also his 2026 album for Sony Classical, puts Chopin's Piano Sonata No. 2 and the "Winter Wind" Étude beside Adès, Saint-Saëns' Danse Macabre and Stravinsky's The Firebird, with his own pieces and improvisations between them, among them Lydian Harp, White Keys and Imaginary Polonaise.²¹ His 2024 Singapore recital sold out.² The Esplanade Concert Hall is known for its acoustics.³
