Why it is on the list

Jeeves opened in Belgravia in 1969 and has held a Royal Warrant since 1980 for dry cleaning for the King.¹ It is one of few cleaners still handling suede, leather and fur, and other dry cleaners ask it to do that work for them; it also cleans rugs and restores shoes and handbags.² Its seamstresses and tailors do alterations and repairs and can come to the client for a fitting.² It also takes couture and wedding gowns.¹

The standard service takes seven days, collected and returned on weekdays only.² It is the wrong choice for a short stay: 72-hour and 24-hour cleaning cost extra and apply only when the clothes are taken to and collected from its Excellence Centre in Tottenham, N15.²

How to get it

Book a collection with the concierge team on 020 8809 3232, by email to services@jeevesofbelgravia.co.uk or through the booking form.² Collection and delivery are free within London and the areas around it; the minimum order is £30, and there are no collections on Saturday or Sunday.²³ Items can be left at the hotel's reception or with the concierge; say so when booking, and give the driver any finishing instructions.² A garment can also be taken to the Pont Street shop, open Monday to Saturday, 9:00 to 18:00, on 020 7235 1101.⁴ If an item looks too fragile to clean, the team calls before doing anything.²

Discretion

The clothes can be handed to the hotel reception or concierge, so nobody needs to meet the driver.² The shop on Pont Street describes its service as discreet.⁴
