Bespoke shirts at Anto

Why it is on the list

Anto Sepetjian, a master tailor from Beirut, opened Anto in Los Angeles in 1955; his sons Jack and Ken joined in the early 1980s and carry the house on.¹ A paper pattern is drafted from up to 18 measurements, the cloth is cut by hand, and the first shirt is fitted at the Beverly Hills showroom before the rest of the order is made.² Every shirt comes from the firm's own factory in Sherman Oaks, where the pattern vault holds decades of client files, from Frank Sinatra to Leonardo DiCaprio; a client can have a shirt made from any period in it.¹³ The house has dressed the Rat Pack and Ronald Reagan, and its shirts are in hundreds of film and television productions.⁴

It is the wrong choice for a shirt this week: a first order takes four to five weeks and starts at three shirts.³ Once the pattern is on file, later orders move faster.³

How to get it

Call +1 310 278 4500 or write to info@antoshirt.com and ask for a bespoke appointment at the Beverly Hills showroom; the bespoke page also takes appointment requests.⁵² The showroom is open Monday to Friday 10am to 6pm and Saturday 10am to 5pm, closed Sunday.⁵ A bespoke shirt starts at $425, with three shirts at least for a first order.³ Bespoke shirts are final sale, but the house adjusts the first order for size, style or fabric.³

Discretion

Measurements and every past order stay on file, so later shirts can be ordered without another fitting in the shop.³ Finished orders can be collected at the showroom or at the Sherman Oaks factory, 13300 Riverside Dr., or shipped, including abroad.³⁵
