Bespoke suits at the House of Bijan
A bespoke suit, jacket or coat made by appointment at the Rodeo Drive house that has dressed six American presidents since it opened in 1976.

Why it is on the list
The House of Bijan opened on Rodeo Drive on 27 October 1976 and still works from its Rodeo Drive headquarters.1 Its tailors have made suits for Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, George H. W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama.2 A suit begins with a consultation on style, colour and fit, and passes through more than 80 steps, some 7,000 hidden hand stitches and over 48 hours of handwork, in Italian cloth; the same service makes jackets, coats and shoes.2 In 2012 the City of Beverly Hills named 8 May Bijan Day.1
It is the wrong choice when only shirts are wanted: Anto on North Beverly Drive drafts a paper pattern for each client and fits the first shirt in its own showroom.3
How to get it
The house sees clients by appointment only.4 Call +1 310 273 6544, write to Bijan@Bijan.com, or send the appointment request on the bespoke tailoring page, and ask for a bespoke consultation at 443 N Rodeo Drive.52 The first meeting is the consultation, where style, colour and fit are settled before any cloth is cut.2
Discretion
The Rodeo Drive house has no walk-in trade: every visit is by appointment.4
