The Fornasetti Suite at Mandarin Oriental, Milan

Why it is on the list

Piero Fornasetti was born in Milan in 1913, worked there all his life, and founded the atelier that still carries his name in the city in the 1940s.¹ This suite is furnished from that work: Riflesso wallpaper and the Ultime Notizie table in the living room, an Architettura console in the corridor, Chiavi Segrete wallpaper and facing mirrors in the bedroom.² It is on the second floor, the floor Italian nobility traditionally lived on, with a living room, a guest bathroom, one bedroom and a large marble bathroom with a walk-in shower and an Agape Spoon XL bath.² A stay includes an hour in the hotel's Spa Suite, with its own jacuzzi and steam bath.²

The hotel occupies four 18th-century palazzi next to La Scala and has 104 rooms, 36 of them suites; Seta, its restaurant, holds two Michelin stars.³⁴ The suite has one bedroom.
