The seven-seat counter at IYO Omakase

Why it is on the list

The room is one counter and seven seats, and everyone eats the same menu, chosen by the sushi master.¹ Masashi Suzuki works in the Edomae style of Tokyo in front of the guests: fish chosen each day, rice cooked and seasoned as a course in its own right, nigiri served in order of rising oiliness and umami, and cooked dishes from a sumibiyaki charcoal grill between them.² It is the counter of the IYO group, whose first restaurant holds a Michelin star in the 2025 and 2026 Italian selections; IYO Kaiseki, which shares its entrance, gained one in 2026.³¹

It is the wrong choice for a private conversation or a group larger than the counter. For a closed room, take the private dining room at Andrea Aprea. For Italian cooking watched from the stoves, take the chef's table at Verso Capitaneo.

How to get it

Call +39 02 250 62 828 or write to info@iyo-omakase.com, or book online from the restaurant's site, and ask for places at the omakase counter.¹ Dinner is an eight-course omakase at EUR 185 a guest, with a wine or sake pairing at EUR 120; lunch is EUR 150, with pairing at EUR 95. The menu changes with the season.⁴ For a private occasion, write to the same address: the restaurant quotes tailor-made omakase dinners for events.¹

Discretion

The restaurant is on the first floor of the Solaria Tower on Piazza Alvar Aalto, and guests come in through the entrance it shares with IYO Kaiseki.⁵¹ All seven guests sit at the same counter facing the sushi master, so the evening is shared unless the counter is taken for an event.¹²
