Why it is on the list
Teterboro is the oldest operating airport in the New York area and the closest to Midtown, 12 miles away; Jet Aviation has run a terminal there since 1988.12 The terminal never closes, clears international arrivals with US customs on site, and keeps a guarded entry to the airport and the ramp.1 Nine heated hangars cover 260,000 sq ft; the refurbished one holds aircraft up to a Gulfstream G650 or a Global 7500 overnight.1 Cars, helicopter charter, hotels and catering are arranged from the same desk.1
It is the wrong airport for a heavy jet: aircraft over 100,000 lb may not take off from Teterboro.2 It is also busy, with around 500 movements a day.1
How to get it
Call the terminal on +1 201 462 4000 or write to tebfbo@jetaviation.com with the tail number, arrival time and whether the flight needs customs; the desk is staffed around the clock.1 Ask at the same time for the car to Manhattan, a helicopter onward, nightly hangar space or catering.1 Jet A is listed from US $9.22 to US $10.47 a gallon depending on uplift, taxes included.1
Discretion
Entry to the airport and the ramp is guarded, security is on duty 24 hours, and the terminal is TSA compliant; passengers clear customs at the terminal rather than in a public arrivals hall.1
