The Penthouse at The Mark

Why it is on the list

The Mark Penthouse takes the top two floors of the hotel, entered on the 16th floor, with more than 10,000 sq ft inside and a 2,500 sq ft private roof terrace looking over Central Park and the Metropolitan Museum of Art; the hotel gives it as the largest hotel penthouse suite in the United States.¹ There are five bedrooms, six bathrooms, two powder rooms, four fireplaces, two wet bars, a library lounge, a conservatory, a dining room for 12 and a full kitchen.¹ The living room has 26-foot ceilings and can be cleared as a ballroom. Jacques Grange furnished it with pieces he designed for it.¹

It is too much for two people, and it has no accessible features: the entrance door is 35.5 inches wide and the bathroom door 32 inches.¹ For a smaller party the hotel has two penthouses with terraces on the 14th floor: the Madison Penthouse with three bedrooms, and the Central Park Penthouse with five, facing south, west and north.²

Discretion

The penthouse fills the top two floors of the building, and its roof terrace, with an outdoor dining area, is private to the suite.¹ A car from Teterboro or any of the city's airports can be sent by the concierge, and valet parking runs around the clock.⁴
