The Augusta Apartment at La Tour d'Argent

Why it is on the list

It is the fifth floor of La Tour d'Argent, straight across the river from Notre-Dame, and it is the only apartment the house lets.¹ The floor was the home of Augusta Burdel, André Terrail's grandmother, and is named for her; the windows look over Notre-Dame, the Seine, Île Saint-Louis and out to Montmartre, the bed is made by Maison Treca and a sauna is built into the bedroom.² The Terrail family has run the restaurant since 1912; it holds one Michelin star and has held the Wine Spectator Grand Award since 1986, and its cellar can be toured from the apartment with a head sommelier.³¹

It is an apartment above a restaurant, not a suite in a hotel: breakfast is served downstairs in the Bar des Maillets d'Argent rather than brought up.¹ For a suite inside a full hotel, take La Suite Shangri-La at Shangri-La Paris.

It is let by reservation only. Write to Julia Poubeau in guest relations at julia_poubeau@tourdargent.com or call +33 6 80 15 15 72, and ask for the Augusta Apartment.¹² There are three stays, taxes included: Une nuit face à Notre-Dame from EUR 2,400 a night, with breakfast, a bottle of the house Blanc de Blancs Champagne and a cellar tour; Le Grand Frédéric from EUR 3,200, adding a four-course lunch in the restaurant and a car to and from the airport or station; La Vie Parisienne from EUR 3,800, with dinner in the restaurant instead.¹² Cooking with the chef Yannick Franques, a wine tasting with the head sommelier Victor Gonzalez and a private Riva on the Seine can be added, priced on request.²

Discretion

There is one apartment and it is booked through one named person in guest relations, not a front desk.¹ On the two longer stays the house's own DS n°8 sedan takes guests to and from the Paris airports or train stations.¹
