The Theodoli Heritage Suite at Corinthia Rome

Why it is on the list

Corinthia Rome fills the former Bank of Italy headquarters on Piazza del Parlamento, a palazzo built between 1913 and 1921 to designs by Pio and Marcello Piacentini, and has 60 rooms.¹² The Theodoli Heritage Suite is the room where the bank's board met, the Sala del Consiglio, and there is only one.³ Giulio Bargellini's original frescoes cover the walls of the salone, the 1920s ceilings and floors are kept, and the salone looks over Piazza del Parlamento and the parliament.³⁴ It is the largest suite in the hotel by interior space: 150 square metres, with a dining table, a lounge around a black piano, a kitchen, a bedroom with a walk-in wardrobe, a marble bathroom with a freestanding bath and a second bathroom for guests.⁴³

It has one bedroom and no terrace. For a family, or for a table outdoors, take the Aurea Penthouse in the same hotel, with two bedrooms and a private terrace, or the Hassler Penthouse at the top of the Spanish Steps.⁵

Discretion

A private car meets you at the airport or the station.³ The suite has its own kitchen and dining table, and room service runs 24 hours, so nothing has to happen in the public rooms.⁴¹
