The helicopter transfer to Narita with AirX

Why it is on the list

The drive between central Tokyo and Narita is the slowest part of the trip. AirX flies it as a private charter: about 20 minutes from the Tokyo Heliport to the helipad at Shisui, then about 15 minutes on the ground to the airport, some 35 minutes door to terminal.¹ The helicopter is yours alone, for up to three passengers.¹ AirX flies more than 10,000 flights a year and reports no accidents in over ten years; its aircraft are inspected every 25 and 50 flight hours.²

It is the wrong choice for more than three people, for more than 220 kg of passengers and luggage together, or for anything oversized: take a car instead.¹ The Tokyo Heliport keeps hours of 8:00 to 16:30, so an early-morning or late-evening flight is better served by the road.³

How to get it

Ask AirX for the Shisui transfer to Narita through its charter inquiry form, or call 050-1746-0630; a quote comes back by the end of the next business day, and AirX then arranges the flight.⁴ One way from Tokyo costs JPY 292,000 including tax per helicopter, the ground transfer between Shisui and Narita included.¹ Flight times depend on weather and operating conditions.¹

A booking stands once AirX's confirmation email arrives. Payment is by card at booking or by bank transfer within two days of it. A flight cancelled for weather is refunded in full; otherwise cancelling costs 20 percent from ten to eight days before, 30 percent from seven to two days, 40 percent the day before and 50 percent on the day.⁵ AirX's office answers weekdays from 9:00 to 18:00 at support@airos.jp or 050-1745-1498.⁵

Discretion

The charter carries only your party.¹ At the Tokyo Heliport the car drives in and parks free when its plate number is given to AirX in advance, five minutes by taxi from Shinkiba station.³
