The Premier Gate at Narita

Why it is on the list

Premier Gate is the terminal Narita keeps for business jet passengers and crew, on international and domestic flights, with customs, immigration and quarantine of its own.¹ Only business jet passengers use its CIQ, so passport control has no queue, and a car carries passengers between the terminal and the aircraft.²³ It has two lounges with drinks and snacks, a meeting room with monitors and webcams, and 18 aircraft stands with parking for up to 30 days, several of them for large aircraft.²

The terminal is for business jets only, so it is the wrong choice on a scheduled flight.¹ When the aircraft lands at Haneda instead, the Business Aviation Gate there is the one to use.

How to get it

The aircraft operator applies through one of fifteen ground handling companies the airport lists, among them JAL Business Aviation (+81 3 5460 5868, jalba@jal.com), ANA (+81 50 3755 2562) and Japan Aviation Service.⁴⁵ A slot and a stand are applied for first; the flight information form then goes by email to the Premier Gate reception desk by 15:00 JST the day before, and to the customs, immigration and quarantine offices by fax.⁴ Changes on the day are telephoned to the desk at least 90 minutes before the booked time.⁴ The desk answers on +81 476 34 5531 from 07:00 to 22:00 JST.⁶

The terminal charges JPY 400,000 per international arrival or departure and JPY 200,000 per domestic one, before tax, with JPY 20,000 for each passenger from the 21st; the meeting room is JPY 100,000 to hire privately.⁷ Duty-free orders placed by telephone by 16:00 the day before are handed over at the terminal.³

Discretion

Cars pull up at the terminal door and park in front of and under the building. Passengers keep to the terminal's own corridors, and a car takes them between the terminal and the aircraft.²³¹ Security and immigration are in the terminal itself, used only by business jet passengers.² The meeting room can be hired for private use.⁷
