The Janu Suite at Janu Tokyo

Why it is on the list

Janu Tokyo is the only hotel in Azabudai Hills, the Minato district built around the tallest tower in Japan, and its 122 rooms and suites are by Jean-Michel Gathy of Denniston.¹² The Janu Suite is the largest of them at 284 m², more than two and a half times any other suite in the house.³⁴ It is laid out as a flat: two balconies facing Tokyo Tower and the Garden Plaza, a living and dining room with a full kitchen, bar counter and a table for six, a library and study, a walk-in wardrobe, a bath with a soaking tub, rain shower and double vanity, and a guest washroom.³

It is the suite for a family or a small group: joined to the Corner Suite and one or two Premier Rooms it becomes up to four bedrooms over 519 m².³ For two people who want the same view without the kitchen and library, a Tower View Suite has 105 m² and its own balcony.⁴

How to get it

The Janu Suite cannot be booked online; the hotel's pages offer an enquiry instead of a booking button.⁴ Write to reservations at janutokyo.res@janu.com or call +81 3 6731 2312 and ask for the Janu Suite by name.² For a party, ask in the same message for the connecting Corner Suite and Premier Rooms, and say how many bedrooms and whether twin or king beds are needed: the arrangements run from two to four bedrooms.³ Haneda is about 30 minutes by car, Narita about an hour and a half.²

Discretion

The dining table seats six and the suite has its own kitchen and a separate study, so a meal or a meeting can stay inside it.³ Taking the connecting Corner Suite and Premier Rooms keeps a party's rooms together behind one set of doors.³ Azabudai Hills around the hotel is a public district of galleries, shops and a central plaza with regular events, so expect people at street level.¹
