The Presidential Suite at Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo

Why it is on the list

Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo fills the top nine floors of the Nihonbashi Mitsui Tower, designed by Cesar Pelli, with its rooms on the 30th to 36th floors and the spa and several restaurants above.¹ Of the hotel's 22 suites, only this one and its two-bedroom form are Signature Suites.²³ The Presidential Suite is 250 m², with a living room, a dining room that seats eight, a lounge, a study, a walk-in wardrobe and an onsen-style soaking tub, and windows towards Mount Fuji and Tokyo Bay.⁴ A personal butler comes with it, and suite guests use the spa's vitality pool, steam room and sauna.³

For more than four, ask for the Two-Bedroom Presidential Suite: the same rooms with a second, twin bedroom, 300 m² on the 36th floor, for up to six.⁵ For a view over the Imperial Palace gardens rather than towards the bay, take the Aman Suite at Aman Tokyo, which has a dining table for six.⁶

Discretion

The hotel has a basement entrance from Mitsukoshi-mae subway station, on the Ginza and Hanzomon lines.⁷⁸ Guests go up to the lobby on the 38th floor, above the guest floors.⁸ The dining room seats eight, so a dinner can be held in the suite rather than in a restaurant.³
