Why it is on the list

Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo fills the top nine floors of the Nihonbashi Mitsui Tower, designed by Cesar Pelli, with its rooms on the 30th to 36th floors and the spa and several restaurants above.1 The hotel has 22 suites; the Presidential Suite is one of its Signature Suites.23 The Presidential Suite is 250 m², with a living room, a dining room that seats eight, a lounge, a study and a walk-in wardrobe, with windows towards Mount Fuji and Tokyo Bay.4 A personal butler comes with it, and suite guests use the spa's vitality pool, steam room and sauna.3

For more than four, ask for the Two-Bedroom Presidential Suite: the same rooms with a second, twin bedroom, 300 m² on the 36th floor, for up to six.5 For a view over the Imperial Palace gardens rather than towards the bay, take the Aman Suite at Aman Tokyo, which has a dining table for six.6

How to get it

Write to the reservations team at motyo-reservations@mohg.com or call +81 3 3270 8800 and ask for the Presidential Suite by name; reservations also answer on +81 3 3270 8950.7 Check-in is from 15:00 and check-out by 12:00; early arrival or late departure depends on availability.2 For guests of this suite, the hotel's Totally Tokyo programme adds private photography, a guided Imperial Palace tour and a tea ceremony in the suite; ask when booking.3

Discretion

The hotel has a basement entrance from Mitsukoshi-mae subway station.7 Lifts to the rooms and suites run from the 38th floor, above the guest floors.71 The dining room seats eight, so a dinner can be held in the suite rather than in a restaurant.3
