Why it is worth going

The Musée d'Orsay, the National Gallery and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston organised the exhibition together. It brings 40 paintings from Renoir's peak years, the 1860s to the 1880s.1 'Bal du moulin de la Galette' (1876) comes from the Orsay and has never before been shown in the UK.1 It hangs with 'Lunch at Restaurant Fournaise' from the Art Institute of Chicago, 'Young Mother' from the Barnes Foundation, 'Dance at Bougival' from Boston and 'Mother Anthony's Tavern' from the Nationalmuseum, Stockholm.1
