The Executive coach on the Frecciarossa from Roma Termini

Why it is on the list

Executive is the top of the Frecciarossa's service levels: one coach of ten champagne-coloured leather armchairs, 74 cm wide, in two rows a metre and a half apart.¹ Each turns through 180° to face the way the train is going and has powered recline and leg rest.¹ The menus are by Carlo Cracco, served at the seat on porcelain with steel cutlery and glass, with DOC and DOCG wines and an open bar.² From Rome the Frecciarossa runs at up to 300 km/h to Florence, Bologna, Milan, Naples and Venice.³

Not every Frecciarossa carries all service levels: the trains offer three or four.³ For the short run to Fiumicino there is no Executive catering.² For a closed compartment for four, take the Club Salotto on Italo instead.

How to get it

Book an Executive ticket on the Trenitalia site or through the call centre on +39 06 5210550, daily from 7am to 11.59pm, option 1 for English.¹⁴ At Roma Termini, go through the Fast Track gate at Gate E, opposite platforms 9 and 10, within 40 minutes of departure; one companion and minor children may pass with you if they hold the same ticket level.⁵ The ticket also opens the FrecciaLounge at Roma Termini, by the high-speed platforms, from four hours before departure; the lounge there has a meeting room.⁶⁷

Discretion

The coach holds ten people at most.¹ The Fast Track at Gate E is open only to Executive ticket holders, some CartaFreccia card holders and certain Business tickets, and the FrecciaLounge to card holders and certain tickets, Executive among them.⁵⁶
