The Sarkies Suite at Raffles Singapore

Why it is on the list

Raffles opened in 1887 under the Sarkies Brothers, and the Main Building followed in 1899; the hotel was declared a national monument in 1987 and reopened in August 2019 after a two-year restoration.¹² All 115 rooms are suites, and only two are Presidential Suites: the Sarkies and the Sir Stamford Raffles, both in the Main Building.³² Each is 190 m² with a parlour, dining room, living room, dressing area, pantry and a private balcony onto the Palm Court, with 24-hour butler service.³

It is the wrong room for a view of the water or the skyline: the balcony faces the Palm Court garden. If the Sarkies is taken, ask for its twin, the Sir Stamford Raffles Suite, on the same terms.³

How to get it

Call reservations on +65 6337 1886 or write to singapore@raffles.com and ask for the Sarkies Suite by name; the online listing books the Presidential Suites as one room type, without saying which.³ Each takes up to three guests, with one or two bedrooms.³ Check-in is from 3 pm and check-out by noon; cancellation terms depend on the rate booked.⁴ For a car from Changi, about 20 minutes, write to the concierge at concierge.singapore@raffles.com.¹⁴

Discretion

The suite has its own balcony onto the Palm Court and a butler on call at any hour, so meals come to the dining room rather than the guest going down to a restaurant.³ The concierge sends a limousine to Changi, and valet parking is at the door.¹⁴
