A private tour of the Ca' del Bosco cellars

Why it is on the list

Ca' del Bosco was founded in Erbusco in 1969, and its winemaker Maurizio Zanella was the driving force behind the Franciacorta DOCG.¹ The tour passes through every production area, the old barrel rooms and the caves, to the Cupola at the centre of the winery, and ends with a tasting.²³ Sculpture is set through the cellars and grounds: Arnaldo Pomodoro's Cancello Solare, a bronze sun 5 m across, is the gate to the estate, and Igor Mitoraj's marble Eroi di luce stands apart from the cellar.⁴

It is the wrong day for small children or a dog: the working areas are not easy with a stroller, the temperature changes from room to room, and animals are not allowed inside.³ For a day on the lake instead, take the private tour of Villa del Balbianello.
