Why it is on the list

The Fullerton Building opened in 1928 as Singapore's General Post Office and was gazetted the country's 71st national monument on 7 December 2015; it became a hotel on 1 January 2001.¹ Of the hotel's 400 rooms and suites, the Presidential Suite is the largest at 280 m² (3,012 sq ft), above the Governor Suite at 170 m².²³ It sits in the former card room of the Singapore Club, whose members held the upper floors of the building until 1961.²¹ The living and dining rooms open onto a glass-enclosed verandah framed by the façade's Doric columns; a baby grand piano stands in the sitting room, and a private study adjoins the bedroom.²

The suite looks over the city and Fullerton Square, not Marina Bay.²³ For a garden-facing suite at another hotel on the list, ask for the Sarkies Suite at Raffles Singapore.

Discretion

A private lift serves the suite directly, so guests need not pass through the lobby.² The hotel receives arriving guests under a glass canopy at the main porch.¹
