The private room at Jungsik

Why it is on the list

Jungsik holds three Michelin stars, the guide's highest rating, in its current New York selection.¹ It held two from 2013 to 2023 and has held three since 2024.² Jungsik Yim, who trained at Aquavit and Bouley in New York and at Zuberoa and Akelarre in Spain, opened it in 2011, two years after his Seoul restaurant; Daeik Kim is executive chef.³ The kitchen cooks what Yim calls New Korean: the signature menu runs from striped jack and octopus through mandoo and yellowtail kimbap to galbi, and at the bar the same dishes come à la carte, the striped jack with Oscietre caviar, the mandoo with wagyu and foie gras.⁴² The private dining room seats up to 16.⁵

It is the wrong choice for a guest allergic to soy or garlic: the restaurant cannot accommodate either.² It is the wrong room for more than 16; Jungsik can be taken whole for up to 35.⁵ For up to 24 at one table, take the private dining room at Eleven Madison Park.⁶

How to get it

Write to events@jungsik.com with the date and the number of guests and ask for the Private Dining Room; the same address handles any party larger than six, and Tock carries a private-events request form.⁵² Tock books the main dining room online for one to five guests and sends any party size it does not show to info@jungsik.com, so a party of exactly six writes there.² The restaurant answers on +1 212 219 0900 and opens Tuesday to Sunday, 5:00 pm to 9:30 pm; it is closed on Mondays.⁷

The signature menu is USD 335 a guest and the whole table takes it; sea urchin bibimbap adds USD 75 and the Modeum kimbap USD 50.⁴ The chef's wine pairing is USD 225, the premium wine pairing USD 600, the Ban-Ban mixed pairing USD 175 and the non-alcoholic pairing USD 145.⁴ On Tock a main-dining-room table is prepaid at USD 335 a guest; for November and December 2026 it takes a USD 200 deposit a guest instead, refunded once the bill is paid at the restaurant.²

Jungsik prints no room fee, minimum spend, buyout price, notice or cancellation rule for private dining: ask events@jungsik.com for all five in the first message, and name any allergy there.

Discretion

The Private Dining Room is a room of its own for up to 16; the rest of the house serves the main dining room and the bar on the same evening.⁵² A party that wants no other guests in the house takes the whole restaurant, up to 35; ask events@jungsik.com what the buyout costs.⁵
