The private dining room at Eleven Madison Park

Why it is on the list

Eleven Madison Park holds three Michelin stars.¹ Daniel Humm's restaurant is on the ground floor of the Art Deco Metropolitan Life North building, at Madison Avenue and East 24th Street, facing Madison Square Park.²³ The private dining room was recently renovated; one wall is a floor-to-ceiling painting by Francesco Clemente in gold and sunflower tones, and the room seats up to 24 at a single table, 27 at three rounds, or 30 standing.³ It serves the restaurant's own tasting menus, fully plant-based or with a few animal-protein courses, with wine pairings from the cellar.³

It is the wrong room for more than 27 seated: the main dining room takes up to 90.³ For nine or fewer who want to watch the cooking, The Studio at Clemente Bar upstairs is a nine-seat omakase counter with Eiji Ichimura.³ For a private room of the same order across town, ask for The West Room at Per Se.

How to get it

Write to Zoey Truong, the private events manager, at events@elevenmadisonpark.com or call the event office on (646) 747-2607, or send the enquiry form, with the date, time and number of guests, and ask for the Private Dining Room.³⁴ The five-course menu is $315 a guest and the full tasting menu $385; the wine pairing is $195 and the reserve pairing $475, and a dedicated sommelier is $500 more.³ A signed contract and a 50% deposit of the food and beverage minimum hold the room; the deposit becomes non-refundable 56 days before the event. Confirm menus and wine 7 to 10 days ahead and the final guest count three business days ahead.³ A 5% administrative fee and 8.875% sales tax are added; gratuity is left to the host, and checks are not accepted for the final bill.³ Corkage is $100 a bottle, arranged in advance.³

Discretion

The room is separate from the main dining room.³ For a party that wants the upper floor as well, the whole second floor, The Lounge and The Studio at Clemente Bar, can be taken with the private room.³ There is no dress code, and coat check is included.³
