The West Room at Per Se

Why it is on the list

Per Se has held three Michelin stars in every New York selection from 2021 to 2025.¹ Thomas Keller opened it in 2004 in the Deutsche Bank Center at Columbus Circle, in rooms designed by Adam D. Tihany that look over Central Park; the kitchen cooks a nine-course tasting menu and a nine-course vegetable menu each day, and the wine list runs to more than 2,000 bottles.² The West Room seats up to 66, or 120 standing, with cream walls, long horizontal mirrors and mahogany furniture, and audio-visual equipment on request.³

It is the wrong room for a party under eight: the private rooms start at eight guests, so a smaller table books the main dining room.³ For a party larger than the West Room, ask for the whole restaurant, with the salon for a standing reception first.³

How to get it

Send a request through the restaurant's online event form, or call Per Se on (212) 823-9335, and ask for the West Room.³⁴ A dedicated events team handles the evening from the first call to the last guest leaving.³ The menu is written for each event around the host's preferences and the season, and a sommelier works through the full wine list with the host in advance.³ Availability and price are given on request.³

Discretion

The West Room has its own guest lobby and private restrooms, so a party need not pass through the main dining room once inside.³ For a dinner away from the restaurant altogether, Per Se sends its chefs and service team to a private home, with notice.³
